Clinical Reflexology: what it can do for you...
Reflexology can help reduce everyday stresses and strains, aiding relaxation, improving circulation and thereby revitalising energy levels. It can also be used to aid the restoration and maintenance of the body’s natural equilibrium encouraging natural feelings of wellness. Reflexology can also be incorporated into a preventative healthcare lifestyle which is becoming more and more important in modern life as we continue to realise the damage caused to health by our environment.
Usually, after a treatment, your tension may be reduced and you will feel relaxed. You might also notice yourself sleeping better and find your mood and sense of well-being improving. You may also find that other aspects improve too. However, this happens on an individual basis.
Reflexology has proven to help with a variety of health conditions including, but not limited to:
A confidential consultation will take place at the first session. This is to gather information about your medical history, lifestyle, current issues and needs. An exploratory treatment will also be given at the first session. This is very relaxing and allows me to get a feel for your feet and any congested areas.
I will then develop a treatment plan based on the information obtained during the consultation. Usually at least 5-6 treatments is suggested to see therapeutic benefits, though most people feel the wonderful potential of reflexology after one or two sessions. Ideally, initial treatments should be frequent, usually every week or two, though less regular maintenance sessions (for a period of your choosing) can then follow. Thereafter, some people also choose to have 'balance' or 'top-up' sessions on an on-going, but less frequent basis, as a lifestyle choice.
During a session you will be required to sit in a recliner Lafuma chair, and have your feet elevated. There is also the option of a larger, upright chair for those who are unable to recline. Your comfort is very important during a session and any special requirements will be identified during the initial consultation. I will work on your feet by applying gentle pressure to specific areas. This may be firm, but does not hurt, or tickle, and is very relaxing. You will be encouraged to rest quietly during your session. Some people like to sleep, others 'daydream' with the sounds of pleasant, relaxation music playing in the background.
The therapy room is situated in a peaceful setting within an emerging low-impact 'One-Planet' small-holding. You will be surrounded by the pleasant tranquillity of a permaculture garden in its early years of development. The unit is comfortably heated, has adjoining toilet facilities and convenient parking.
